The LakeESP is a complete monitoring buoy for long-term water quality monitoring and management. The monitoring buoy features real-time monitoring of water column temperature stratification, meteorological parameters, and water quality parameters. Meteorology sensors can include net long and short wave radiation, humidity, air temperature, wind speed/ direction, barometric pressure and liquid precipitation. Meteorology sensors are positioned on the lake buoy above the water surface. Water column sensors are attached to the lake buoy below the water surface and can include temperature, dissolved oxygen, pressure, and PAR (Photosynthetically Active Radiation).
The LakeESP monitoring buoy can transmit data via GSM cell phone or other methods to a user specified destination. Measurements are typically collected once per minute, but can be collected as often as once every few seconds, depending upon customer specification.
The LakeESP monitoring buoy is a stationary floating system that can be easily installed and is moored to compensate for fluctuating water levels.
The LakeESP data logger houses all station electronics and has a memory storage of 2 Gigabytes. Data are able to be sent via GSM cell, satellite or radio.
Software LakeESP data can flow to a customer specified server or it can flow to PME's server. Data to PME's server will be available to customers via FTP.
Data Turbine is a 'middle ware' designed to buffer measurement streams and make them concurrently available to multiple client programs. LakeESP software can flow data automatically to Data Turbine.
RDV is a client program designed to draw data from Data Turbine. Customers will certainly want to operate RDV as a visualization tool to display LakeESP data.
The Vega database is a open-source database designed by the Global Lake Ecological Observatory Network (GLEON). LakeESP software can flow data automatically to a Vega database hosted by MySQL.
